It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Flowering Currant Cordial
Different springtime blossoms can be used to flavour syrups and cordials both from the hedgerow and garden. On this occasion I have used red flowering currant (Ribes sanguineum), a highly scented flower. The taste of this syrup is subtle but when mixed with sparkling water is astonishingly fragrant.
Blackberry Syrup
Blackberries (Rubus fruticosus) are abundant in the hedgerows in early August - mid September.
Blackberries contain vitamins and minerals (notably vitamin A, C and potassium) and are also high in fibre. Like other berries, blackberries also contain phytonutrients such as anthocyanins, flavonoids and tannins that act as antioxidants in the body.
Making a syrup is a great way to capture these vital elements.
Blackberry Ketchup
There are so many possibilities for the humble blackberry (Rubus fruticosus). Here is my take on a savoury sauce/ketchup. Depending on how thick you wish the sauce to be will depend on it being a sauce or ketchup.
