The Hitchin Forager
Whether it’s countryside or urban, foraging for wild food is a fun and exciting way to enjoy the great outdoors.
You’ll become more connected with the natural environment and what it has to offer!
Why forage?
My aim is to give everyone the skills and confidence to safely identify, pick and use delicious edible plants, flowers, fruit and mushrooms. All you need is plenty of enthusiasm and a keen eye for detail when identifying wild food ingredients.
About me
Growing up in Southeast London and Kent, my earliest memories of foraging are collecting plants, fruit, berries and nuts throughout the year with my parents.
Having an insatiable passion for food, I pursued this interest as an adult. I’m continually experimenting and adding different wild foods to my diet and what’s more, there is an abundance of wild ingredients on my doorstep, right here in Hitchin!
I’m also a registered member of the association of foragers.
As it becomes more popular, it’s really important that foraging is responsible, safe and sustainable. All my activities comply with their code of conduct.
